Rent your own virtual mobile number | Forwarding messages

With eCall you can rent one or more virtual mobile numbers. Every incoming text message to these virtual mobile numbers will be quickly and reliably forwarded to one or more receivers.

The forwarding can be done by e-mail, text message, fax, TCP/IP or HTTP. It is possible to have the message forwarded to multiple receivers (e.g. to SMS and e-mail).

Rent your virtual mobile number

To rent a virtual mobile number online please proceed as follows:

Log in at eCall.
In the navigation on the left, under 'Account settings' -> 'Virtual mobile number' you can rent a number (at the moment only Swiss, German and French numbers). Please note there is a fee (see below) for a virtual mobile number.

These options are available for forwarding messages

If you receive a text message on your virtual mobile number you can forward to any recipient. Available are the following options:

SMS / Text message
Voice Message (TTS)
E-mail
TCP/IP ('business' only)
HTTP/HTTPS ('business' only)
Fax ('business' only)

Set up forwarding

In your account under "Settings" > "SMS reception number" then click on "new" under "3. forward received SMS (optional)".

Format 4: Numbers in 'To:'-box for text message / pager

Format 4: Number(s) / Name(s) / Group(s) in To:-box or in Cc:-box

You can send a message to a pager or to a mobile phone if you type the recipient's identification in the To:-box or in the Cc:-box of the email.eCall only checks the sender's adress in this format.

Procedure:

First write down the recipient's identification (according to the option, see below) in the To:-box.
Write down the text in the text box.
Send the email.There are three options of recipient's identifications:

There are three variants of receiver IDs:

Option 1 Recipient's number e.g. +41791234567

Option 2 Name and forename of a person in the eCall adress book (e.g. John -> examplejohn)

Option 3 Name of a group in the eCall adress book (e.g. Tennis Club -> tennisclub)

Important:

As an sender's adress the email must include an adress that you have registered in the list of allowed sender adresses in the personal settings.
In the menu option 'Settings: Access via e-mail' the check box 'I allow messages to be sent via my eCall account by email' must be activated.
You have to write the telephone number in the international format. Example f

Fax settings

Fax settings

Under fax settings you can define the following characteristics:

sender number
header content
retries (number of trials/interval)
cover sheet

Own fax number

This number will only appear on a fax machine as the sender and will not appear on the sent fax. A maximum of 16 digits, e.g. 0041431234567, are allowed.

Fax header ID

The content of this field is displayed in the header next to the date and time (maximum 20 digits or characters).

Fax header info

The content of this field is displayed in the header next to the fax header ID (maximum of 50 digits or characters).

Retries

The number of retries can be entered here (max. 9). If the recipient is not available eCall tries to achieve the specified number of times.

Time interval

The interval of retries can be entered here (max. 99 minutes). The interval determines the time required to wait between retry attempts.

Cover sheet

Here you can specify whether a cover sheet is used or not. If the option is not selected only the attachments are sent as a fax.

Format 6: Fax numbers in the To:-box for fax messages.

You can send a message to a fax machine by typing the recipient's identification in the email's To:-box or Cc:-box.

Procedure:

Write down the recipient's identification in this format @fax.eCall.ch in the To:-box and/or in the Cc:-box of the email as you usually do it with ordinary email adresses.
Write down the message in the email's text box.
If you wish you can send the email with an attachment (supported documents).
Send the e-mail.

Note

The capitalization of the recipient's identification doesn't matter.
If there are more recipients: @fax.eCall.ch; @fax.eCall.ch; …).
The message being sent to the fax machine is composed of the email's subject box, the text box and optionally of the attachment.
