Access via text message: General information

Even without internet access you always have access to your eCall contact addresses. As an example you send a text message to a group or initiate a fax message. All stored contacts in your eCall account are accessible in this way. You can also execute any message by using a direct number.

Important:

  • To access your eCall addresses, you must define your valid mobile number under 'Account settings' -> 'Personal data' -> 'Mobile'.
  • You must also tick the option under 'Account settings' -> 'General settings' -> 'I wish to receive text message from mobile phones'.
  • Your mobile number must be correctly entered under 'Settings' -> 'Personal Settings'. Access to your eCall account via text message is only valid with this number.

Sending a text message to a person or a group

If you want to send a text message from your mobile phone to a person or group in your eCall address book you need to proceed as follows:

  • Enter the name of the person or group before the message text.
  • First enter the last name followed by the first name of a person from the address book.
  • Enter a question mark directly before and after the name. There must not be a space between the last and first name e.g.: ?millerjohn?Match starts at 7:00 PM
  • Send the message to the following number: +41 76 333 20 20

Note:

The capitalization of the recipient's identification doesn't matter. If a recipient ID is invalid (person or group not found in address book or recipient number invalid) no message will be transmitted at all.

  • You can also enter any valid mobile number instead of a person or group name.
  • For callback information the number defined under 'Account settings' -> 'General settings' -> 'Callback number for voice or text message' will be used.

Sending a fax message to a group

You can send a fax message from your mobile phone to a group listed in your eCall address book as follows:

  • Enter the group name before the message text. '' (an asterisk) must be entered directly before and after the name. E.g.: *bowlingclubTurnament postponed to 8 p.m.
  • Send the message to the following number: +41 76 333 20 20

Note:

If a recipient ID is not valid (group not found in address book or recipient number invalid) no fax message will be transmitted at all.

  • You also can type any valid fax number instead of a group name.
  • For callback information the names defined under 'Account settings' -> 'Personal data' -> Last name and First name will be used.

Sending voice messages to a person or a group

You can send a voice message from your mobile to a person or group in your address book as follows:

  • Enter the name of the person or group before the message text. The pound symbol '#' must be entered directly before and after the name.
  • First enter the last name of recipient followed by the first name. There cannot be a space between the last and first name (Miller John -> millerjohn or tennis club -> tennisclub).
  • Send the text message to the following number: +41 76 333 20 20
  • E.g.: #tennisclub#Match starts at 7 p.m. In this example all members of the group 'tennisclub' will receive a voice message 'Match starts at 7 p.m.'.
  • E.g.: #millerjohn#Match starts at 7 p.m. John Miller will receive the voice message on his mobile number.

Note:

  • The capitalization of the recipient's identification doesn't matter. If a recipient ID is not valid (person or group not found in address book or recipient number invalid) no message will be transmitted at all.
  • You can also enter any valid mobile or fixed network telephone number instead of a person or group name.
  • For callback information the names defined under 'Account settings' -> 'Personal data' -> Last name and First name will be used.
